B2B, B2C, and W2P

B2B web to printA business-to-business (B2B) transaction is commerce between two or more businesses. This might be a transaction between a manufacturer and a vendor, a retail business and another retail business, or in the case of web to print, a print-service provider and their corporate customer's employees, contractors, or other authorized partners who purchase print products from a collection of brand-managed templates.

According to Wikipedia, the volume of B2B transactions is much higher than the volume of business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions. This is because in a typical supply chain there will be many B2B transactions involving sub-components or manufacturing materials, and only one B2C transaction — the sale of the finished product to the end customer.

A B2C web-to-print transaction is the commerce between the print-service provider and an online shopper. Prisme Technologies provides a B2C solution called PrintSYS Store. You can demo a typical store by visiting http://store.printsys.net/. A B2C store is designed to be engaging to the online shopper and entice them to choose products for purchase. This is different than the B2B customer who will be using a closed environment that contains only corporate-approved documents for purchase, and for which brand control is imposed.
