Cloud computing reduces IT investments
In a typical office a user will have storage devices, software, and computers within arm's reach. Each is a physical device or, in the case of software, actual files installed on the computer's drive — which may have been installed from physical CD-ROMs.
Cloud computing provides these same assets without your knowledge of the actual location. It's akin to electrical services that come into your home or office. You have power when you flip a light switch, but you likely do not know from where the power originated, devices used for generation, or the infrastructure used to deliver the power.
Most cloud-computing services are provided by centralized data centers where the actual hardware and software are shared by many customers or end users. This typically results in elimination of expensive IT investments — the cost of the server is built in to the licensing fee that you pay for the rights to use the hardware or software offered.
Software delivered via cloud computing are called software-as-a-service providers, or SaaS. Primse Technologies takes this one step further and provides software as a managed service, or SaaMS. What this means to you is that your license and customization are managed by Prisme Technologie's support and programming staff — leaving you free to concentrate on simply providing the solution to your customer completely hands off.
