Société des Alcools du Québec (SAQ)

The Société des Alcools du Québec (SAQ) is the, provincially owned and regulated, liquor control and retailing organization for the province of Québec. With thousands of products generating sales of over two billion dollars through four hundred and fourteen outlets across the province, the in-plant print production plant for the SAQ was facing some unique printing production, procurement, and management challenges when they turned to Prisme Technologies.

The entire organization — including individual outlets — required unique access to shared documents, point-of-purchase marketing tools, and merchandising resources. Prisme Technologies’ PrintSYS web-to-print online procurement solution was able to meet their needs.

Now over six hundred users are able to log on to the SAQ print portal to order the printed products they require, twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. Changes to products are enacted across the organization with the next order. Inventoried products are made available through the system and the SAQ has control over the individual reorder and reprint thresholds.

The SAQ’s procurement rules were integrated in to PrintSYS order management allowing for approval levels where required and detailed transaction reporting. Both static and modifiable documents are available through the portal. Marketing items, including third-party items, can be customized to an outlet for individual promotions while maintaining brand-integrity rules. The system is so well integrated in the SAQ framework that the users view it as a integrated procurement process, leading to universal adoption and utilization.

With PrintSYS, the SAQ’s in-plant printshop has been able to automate and streamline the ordering process. They are now able to concentrate their resources on print production and fulfillment, making them more productive and efficient.
